Ground Rules for Peaceful Protest
1. If you have any questions or need assistance please ask one of the monitors.
2. Remain calm as you talk to people. Do not raise your voice, even if the other person does. We are not trying to argue with people who do not agree with us but educate those who want to learn. Speak from the heart. If someone is aggressive or belligerent, try to calm them down or call one of the monitors to assist you.
3. Do not antagonize counter-demonstrators. If they engage you in a negative manner ignore them. If they become aggressive or belligerent, try to calm them down or call one of the monitors to assist you.
4. Refrain from signs, messages or chants that demonize or attack individuals or a people collectively, inflammatory symbols, or images that depict individuals as victims. These are not helpful in communicating our message and may actually be used to discredit us.
5. Keep signs and statements consistent with this event's goals and demands.
6. If reporters ask you questions feel free to answer them in the spirit of our peaceful message. If you feel uncomfortable talking to the press, direct them to a monitor and a selected press liaison will talk with them.
7. Leave the demonstration in groups for your security.
